The Sunion is a collaborative side project of a few industry folks who require humor and laughter to tolerate this strange, frustrating, wonderful industry. There is no single author or firm responsible for the content. This is done in the spirit of making fun of one’s self: Though some of the ideas may be spurred by observations of other industry folks’ silliness, the majority of the content is derived from our own past mistakes, absurd internal dialogue, or awful ideas quickly pivoted into satire.

FAQ:

Who wrote this stuff? See above. It’s not really important. In a way, we all did.

Are the people and companies real? Never the people, usually the companies. With the rare exception of there being a clear “villain”, personal offense is never intended.

Why do you do this? For fun, and for charity. See donations page.

I have a hilarious idea for an article, can I contribute? no.

Is this on Twitter? Yup, most of it gets posted through @thesunionnews

I have a comment to make about one of the positions you take, where can I offer my opinion or defend something criticized satirically? If you make a donation, you will be offered the chance to submit a comment, which we will post on the website (in batches…probably once every couple of weeks). However, if your comment is defensive or combative, we might suggest you consider laughing and moving on instead. No one is really taking a “position”, just extracting the humor from our silly little sandbox. You might ask yourself if being publicly defensive in response to a satirical blog is the look you’re going for.

I’m an attorney for The Onion and would like to have a word with you, what should I do? Right. So….yes, we’re obviously attempting to play off the wonderful satirical format of The Onion. We hoped you might be flattered. In our amateur estimation, we’re not violating any intellectual property laws/rules/ethics. But, then again, I’m not a doctor. If any lines have been crossed, please tweet at us (@thesunionnews) and we’ll address promptly. For what it’s worth, we make no money on this…donations all go to charity. But, in any event, happy to make changes if there are any intellectual property concerns.
