Tax Equity Panel Moderator Spends Entire Hour Deliberating Which Panelist/Client To Bill Hour To
BOSTON, MA - Reports from the recent Novogradac Tax Equity conference confirm that Gary Blake, the moderator of this afternoon’s panel titled “Inside Basis and Outside Basis During Covidian Times”, spent the full hour frantically debating which of his panelists - all of whom were also clients - would be billed for the hour spent moderating.
“I could bill Andrea from Citigroup…she’d never notice,” said Blake. “But just look at Greg bloviating about the risks of lease pass-throughs right now. He hasn’t made a salient point since Obama was in office, so I highly doubt he’s sufficiently engaged to notice and care about an extra $1,265 in our bill.”
Blake initially kept deliberations internal. While going through the motions of offering softball questions on topics like the benefits of back-leverage and strategies for absorbing bonus depreciation, Blake frantically considered his many wonderful options.
“Yeah somewhere around the time that the panelists were answering my question on their DRO limits, I was nearly certain I’d bill the hour to Sundeep from Wells because I gave him those Knicks tickets last winter and I don’t think he has the balls to poke holes at my invoice after that,” added Blake, “but then I got to thinking about how fucking massive the bill would be for that JP Morgan wind deal that’s closing soon and realized I can jam a shitload of hours in that sucker and no one will be the wiser.”
During the back half of the panel Blake apparently decided to air the debate publicly, choosing to ask the panelists their perspective on the matter. “So which one of you do you think should wear this billable hour of mine? You know…through the lens of tax equity. Like, Greg….lets just say I tossed it on your bill for that New York CSG deal where you’re fleecing Generate, how much would that piss you off? You know…theoretically.”
At press time, reports emerged that Blake remembered that all of the panelists would be passing through their bloated legal bills to project “sponsors” anyway, so none of them would give even the slightest of fucks.
